Here is our March ballot. Vote for up to 20 artists or groups.
Any artist or group named on more than 50% of the counted ballots will be inducted to The People's Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame.
The cutoff year for eligibility is 1962. To be eligible, an artist or group had to have released their first single or album no later than '62.
Write-in votes are allowed. You may list any artist or group not included on the ballot, and the vote will count, so long as they meet the 1962 cut-off date. If an ineligible name is included on a write-in ballot, that ballot may be counted as a "short" (less than twenty) ballot.
Short ballots are discouraged. Voters are allowed to list less than 20 names on their ballot if they wish, however this is discouraged unless you genuinely feel that less than 20 of the nominees deserve induction at this time. Currently there is not an enforced minimum size, but anything less than a ten name ballot could be considered suspect. If you wish to purposely submit a "short" ballot, please indicate that when you vote. The People's Rock Hall moderators reserve the right to not count any ballots we deem to not be legitimate.
Balloting ends at 12:00 noon PST on Wednesday, March 17, 2010. Post your ballots in the comments section at the bottom of this post.

Please continue to list all of the previous nominees on the ballot, and please raise the voting list to at least 25. I had to leave off Bob Dylan and all of the Motown people, and I almost left off the Beach Boys and Beatles this time, but I just couldn't do it.
Definitely considering an increase to 25 Alan, I wanted to see how 20 works out for at least a couple of elections first. I appreciate the feedback and your very well considered ballots!

I have to start with the Isley Brothers and Marvin Gaye because they were so cool. But is it rock n roll or Motown? and before 1962? Marvin wasnt cool yet in 1962.Thats a tough year to cut it off too. I'm not sure if Hal David and Burt Bacharach were at it yet thats right on the cusp but I will write in Dione Warwick and Jackie DeShannon since they both sang Bacharach songs.

The 4 Tops
The large number of write-in votes (110 so far) was unforeseen, so I'm making an adjustment in the ballot count to make up for it. The actual number of ballots used to figure our percentages will be 5.5 less than the total number counted (ie: 110 votes). There will be a new rule in place for our April election. Adjusted update coming up...
nightfly didn't get counted in the above totals - will add those to the next update.
The rule for write-ins starting in April will be that there will be a cap on write-ins of no more than three per ballot.
The other revisions will be that the nominee list will be increased from 50 to 60 names, ballots will be increased to up to 30 names, and there will be a minimum of 20 for a ballot to be counted.
The minimum will likely be lifted at a later date, but with the large number of acts we need to catch up on it will be in place for the foreseeable future.
